how am i doing?
Back in March I made my baseball season predictions here;
http://www.disturbed.org/lifetype/blog/the-game-of-life/general/2008/03/31/rain-predictions-and-cats
I had meant to check in during the All-Star break, but it's only a bit late. I'll put actual next to the prediction.
AL West; Angels (Angels - First place by 10.5 games, best record in the majors. Grade: A+)
AL Central; Tigers (White Sox - Tigers are in 3rd, 6.5 games back, doing better lately, but still not looking great to make the playoffs. Grade: C)
AL East; Red Sox (RAYS! - No one predicted the Rays, but the Red Sox are still close at 1.5 games back. Grade: B)
AL Wildcard; Indians (Red Sox - 1.5 games ahead of the Yankees. Indians are 14 games out of the wild card, I totally missed this one. Although the AL Central isn't completely out of this with the Twins being only 2.5 games out of the wildcard. Grade: D)
NL West: Dodgers (Diamondbacks - Dodgers are only 1 game back, great to see the dbacks in first though! Grade: B)
NL Central; Cubs (Cubs - Only by a game, but it's looking like NL Central will contain the wildcard, so even if the Brewers win the division the Cubs probably make the playoffs. They're also the best team in the NL right now. Grade: A)
NL East; Mets (Mets - They've been doing much better lately, and regained first place by 1 game over the Phillies, and 2 over the Marlins. This is the least secure lead, especially after last year, but it's right for now. Grade: A-)
NL Wildcard; Diamondbacks (Brewers - I was right about the Dodgers/Dbacks being close, just wrong about the division where the wildcard would come from. The Dodgers are 7.5 out of the wildcard.. so not looking good for the NL West. Grade C)
Overall predictions so far: C+ That Indians wildcard pick hurt.
And with that, let's pick 'em again..
AL West; Angels (previous: Angels - no change)
AL Central; Twins (previous: Tigers)
AL East; Red Sox (previous: Red Sox - no change)
AL Wildcard; Rays (previous: Indians)
NL West: Diamondbacks (previous: Dodgers)
NL Central; Cubs (previous: Cubs - no change)
NL East; Mets (previous: Mets - no change)
NL Wildcard; Brewers (previous: Diamondbacks)
ALDS; Angels over Rays and Red Sox over Twins (previous: Angels over Indians and Red Sox over Tigers)
NLDS; Diamondbacks over Cubs and Brewers over Mets (previous: Dodgers over Cubs and Diamondbacks over Mets)
ALCS; Angels over Red Sox (previous: Angels over Red Sox - no change!)
NLCS; Brewers over Diamondbacks (previous: Diamondbacks over Dodgers)
World Series; Angels over Brewers in 5 (previous: Angels over Diamondbacks in 6)
The AL Wild Card will come from the East all right, but I'm betting that the Yankees will not be the odd man out. And I tend to doubt that the Mets will survive, would pick either the Marlins or the Phillies there.
