good new orleans stories and riding
Here is an entry worth reading from the New Orleans blog I mentioned;

I had a great bike ride tonight, despite the end being in the dark. I rode out to Pecos and 24th St and then did a solid climb up to Chandler Blvd. The descent down to the Ray/Chandler intersection is a bit sketchy with skinny lanes for the cars, a thin bike lane, darkness, 35mph, and a bend in the middle. It is always a bit entertaining to almost keep up with cars though. I have successfully hit that light in a way that I beat cars down to the stop sign at least a couple times now. It hurts to do it though, and the effort I made going up the hill didn't leave my legs able to do it tonight.
My ride on Friday had me a bit nervous on the bike being my first ride since the crash in the garage the previous week. I didn't feel any ill effects today though thankfully. Best of all though, the weather cooled off a bit. I got home and wasn't dripping with sweat like usual. It was kind of odd actually. Dare I say that Summer is coming to an end?!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It's probably another month of 90+, but I can deal with that.

t-shirt hell
You all remember t-shirt hell. They had the t-shirt that instead of I "heart" NY, they had I "plane" NY after 9/11? Yes, those guys. They come up with offensive t-shirts about everything. Here are their Hurricane Katrina ones;

All except for the last one are good. You could even collect them all!
asu, weekend, and law
Well ASU lost. Their special teams failed miserably and gave up 14 points in about 5 minutes. Their offense looked VERY good (although still a predominantly passing team), and their defense was ok. They lost 35-31, but it was a very good game. Chris, Lori, and I took it in at CK's, amongst a bunch of unhappy Ohio State fans who were watching Texas win. They are ranked #18 this week while LSU is #3. With how that game was played they are obviously not separated by 14 teams, but such is life in the rankings. Hell, Notre Dame, is #10 to give you an idea of incorrect rankings. The next three weeks will be the true test, with hosting a half decent Northwestern, then playing a half decent Oregon St at home, then hosting the always dominant #1 USC. They played very well against USC last year, can they do even better this year?
After the game Lori and I met up with some of her friends at a sports bar off Mill and Baseline and had fun until about 12:30. Nursing a hangover on Saturday I did what every good hung over person does; eat bad food. I had my first fast food hamburger/fries in a few months (from Jack in the Box), and also had a couple Krispy Kreme donuts. For dinner on Friday and Sunday night it was Nello's Pizza. I am starting to really like their pizza. I'm not sure I can go back to delivery pizza after eating there three times. I have more than half a pizza left in the fridge, so dinner will be pizza again tonight, after a bike ride and weight lifting of course.
Speaking of bicycling, here is a disturbing story from Oregon;

This guys is being charged with manslaughter for killing a pedestrian while on his bicycle. People get killed on bikes here in Ahwatukee and the guy just gets a ticket. Awesome.
