napa, greg, and drunk girls
Today was a good day. I write to you extremely drunk at 2:38am, so you know it was a good day. I have a flight in less than 12 hours, so I must keep this short in order to sleep and catch a plane.
Well today began with some lazy sleep, reading, and beginning to the day. Next Ann and I headed to Napa Valley, while skipping the Anheiser Busch tour for the purpose of convenience. We went to a number of wineries and I got the full Napa experience along with some good wine tasting. All in all I tried 30+ wines and ended up purchasing one (hrm, I sure hope I can bring that on the plane). I got some amazing pictures of the valley and thorougly convinced myself that I must return again. Next time I'm hiring a car and bringing some snack food to split up each visit so my toungue doesn't fail to differentiate each wine presented. I'm also bringing a much larger group of friends, because there is something to be said for the power of numbers.
Next, Ann, Tim, and I headed off to some middle eastern food and then some dessert. We shared a Greek Salad, then I had chicken...
Well, I seem to have stopped writing last night, because this is how I found it when I woke up this morning. Funny. There were only three things that needed to be corrected though, not too bad for how drunk I was.
Anyways, I had chicken shawarma, with a cucumber yogurt dip and some hummus. Then we headed over to a little chocolate/coffee shop and we tried three desserts. I had a cappuccino as well to make sure I was going to last through the night.
So the plan was to go to some place kind of trendy (keep in mind I have Scottsdale to compare to, and I'm in Davis) and drink heavily. So since Ann and Tim didn't have ideas we walked over to a bar where Greg was bouncing to ask him. He didn't really have any good suggestions either, and since this place was walking distance from their house both could drink. So we went in and drank heavily. I have to say, that place was hilarious. There were a handful of really good looking girls and absolutely no guys really having the guts to do anything about it. They would either dance with them for 5 seconds or would say one thing and walk away. I almost felt like I should go up and give these poor bastards some advice on how to pick up on women. The crowd was a huge mix of people, from trendy dressed up looking people (who wouldn't have looked so dressed up compared to the Scottsdale crowd), to scummy biker looking guys, and everything in between. I guess that's what you get in a small area with college kids. Not enough bars to go around to meet every genre of individual.
It was a great night though, and will definitely be something to remember. I write this with almost no hangover (slight headache is it) due to my intake of only gin. My body is used to it so the after affects are minimal. Tim is making breakfast, Ann is showering, and I need to head to the airport in 2.5hours. It's been a wonderful trip, with some great friends, and I have no doubt that I will be back soon.
