Happy 4th of July

Well Tausha destroyed my sleep schedule. I had worked for 3 days with the most screwed up sleep schedule known to man so that I could get up Monday at ~5:30am. No such luck, closer to 11:45am. Despite being awake for 23 hours, I couldn't fall asleep with my mind racing, it took 4 hours. So here it is 1am on Monday night and I -should- have been asleep for 3.5+hours already. Ugh.

So the weekend bike riding didn't happen due to the sleep schedule. Exercise makes you tired, and I was trying to stay awake longer. The two don't mix. I did however get in a ride today. My ride schedule called for "medium" (under 80% max heart rate), but I was in the mood to hurt myself after last night. Well, I hurt myself. I didn't have much of an appetite today, so I forgot to eat lunch. I scarfed down half a sandwich and a few carrots about 30mins before riding. This is a horrible idea with the heat and intensity. It made my stomach none too happy. Add to that the fact that I am horribly out of shape and went flat out (95% max heart rate) for the first 15mins, and wow did I feel some pain. Thankfully after taking it easy in the middle, I was able to sustain a decent speed without hurting myself. My legs do show promise of being able to ride a bike again =). God how I wish I still had the fitness I had at the end of 2003.

I went to see some fireworks with Melissa tonight out in Gilbert, I was pretty impressed by the show they put on. I think that's the most impressive finale I've ever seen. Definitely better than the ones I saw out of my bedroom window last night.

Here is the most suprising thing. My mind has been so occuppied with things today that I completely forgot to watch the Tour de France stage. I will have to catch up tomorrow. I also missed the Diamondbacks the past two days. It appears they won 10-3 on Sunday, only to lose 10-3 on Monday. Interesting.
